A watch collector and watch lover strives to have as much information as possible about his watches. In addition to the country of origin, manufacturer, watch type, this also includes age.



There are various indicators for the age of a watch, such as: B. the design of the clockwork with any available word and image marks or the design and decoration of the watch case. The latter is the watch-specific style that changes depending on the time and watch type.



In the period from 1850 to 1940, this book identifies eleven watch-specific styles with their special features. The analysis of watch catalogs shows when which of these eleven watch styles was visible. There are watch styles that remained unchanged over the entire observation period and those that only lasted a few years. The periods in which a watch style was effective also corresponds to the production time of the watch in that watch style.



The book provides the reader with the production times of watches sorted by watch type and watch style in the form of bar charts. The reader's task is to find the type and style of a watch to be reviewed. The book provides assistance with a detailed presentation and description of the watch-specific style features.
